Worship
PHILOSOPHY OF WORSHIP
Worship is the term we use to cover all the acts of the heart and mind and body that express the infinite worth of God. We sing songs, bring offerings, hear and obey God’s Word, and reorient our lives based on God’s infinite worth. Declaring and living lives that display God as our ultimate treasure is no small thing. It is the goal of creation (Isaiah 34:7), the command of all human activity (1 Cor. 10:31), the highest call of music (Psalm 150), the invincible purpose of Christ’s return (2 Thes. 1:10), and the ultimate declaration of all humanity (Phil. 2:9-11).
WORSHIP MINISTRY PRIORITIES
Sunday morning worship serves as the catalyst for walking with and working for Christ daily. GOSPEL CENTERED: We remember Jesus Christ crucified and risen again, according to the Scriptures, is the means of our fellowship with God and is of first importance in worship planning. (1 Cor 15)
BIBLE SATURATED: The content of singing, praying, welcoming and preaching must conform to the truth of Scripture. God’s Word is the ground of authority. (Isaiah 40:8)
SPIRIT AND TRUTH: Worship services must bring about clear thinking about spiritual things, and seek to kindle hearts with deep and strong emotions toward God. (Matthew 22:37)
REAL: Worship services will seek a radically personal encounter with God. There will be no pretense or posturing. There will be no flippant, superficiality. We will pursue reverence, passion, and wonder. (Psalm 96)
DISTRACTION FREE: We will seek to lead God’s people to a Christ-centered focus and to eliminate horizontal distractions.
PROGRESSIVE AND RELEVANT: Although the biblical content of our music is our first priority, we will seek to worship in new, creative, and relevant forms. (Psalm 98:1)
